Myers Briggs, by the way, or at least that “type” of test is my favorite so far. There are so many so-called “personality tests” online… with weird, crazy names! Like “brain lateralization test.” I took that tonight.

I’m here in the cold again, doing some studying for my psych class. And yes its the break, but this one’s an online course.

The ENTP profile is interesting. Evidently ENTPs are intelligent, witty, and rare, basically. That makes me feel better about the test already, especially since the profile talked about how amazing people like me am. Har Har. No really though, I am.

So more about the ENTP… we can play mean, nasty tricks on people, so to speak. Some’s feelings are hurt by us (that’s for sure true). Although we don’t always intentionally mean for that to happen. Its like a side effect of having such a naturally awesome personality

Oh and guess what? The ENTP is sometimes called “The Lawyer.” Not that all ENTPs should be lawyers, but more along the lines that we like to debate, have a penchant for arguing the socks off someone…and we could be excellent lawyers.

I just can’t see myself going to school for that long without needing to switch subjects or something! You know…it sounds to me that if a personality type has a natural talent for lawyer-ing, then that type (ENTP) should get an honorary degree. I mean come on people, what’s all that red tape and bureaucracy really proving? That you are uptight and snotty and sticks are stuck up your asses? Well yes, that pretty much sums it up.

So here’s the screenshot of the first personality test I took.

“ENTP.” I’ll take a better look at it later, I have to look more at the profile for my paper.

My reflections on the test, before I forget I took it

I thought the test was, in one word, lame. From what I’ve studied about personality tests, they have a lot of validity and reliability. I just didn’t enjoy taking it.

A lot of the questions seemed the same… so I felt like I was wasting my time.

But I’ll be back later for more about the Profile “ENTP”.

Good question. Well…for starters, in my mind career tests are a thing to be scoffed at. I’ve really always thought they sucked. Not only do I have little use for them (not really thinking about choosing a career) but honestly I doubt their validity. I mean, lets be honest- no matter how hard you try to change a personality test into a career test, questions are pretty similar. Any test that asks questions like, “What’s your favorite genre of music?” or “Are you a daydreamer or a doer?” has no business being used in the academic world in the first place.

I’m thinking about possibly pursuing a career in psychology now. Someday. Down the road. I’m taking a psychology class (Intro) and have been assigned to take 5 career tests over the next couple months.

I’ll be perfectly honest; I am not looking forward to it at all. I am cynical at the entire world of quizes and questionnaires, and so tired of all the stupidity sent my way via a popular social networking site which I won’t mention and was suckered into joining in the first place.

I will be “logging” my “reflections” for the assignment; I decided I may need to be honest so I will record those honest reactions here. I’ll even post my results and share the innermost workings of my heart (kidding) which I am not in favor of doing, ever. Because I need the outlet. Seriously.
